Janice Bartell Obituary

Janice Gaye Bartell

January 19, 1937 - January 3, 2016

Born in Dallas, Oregon to parents Chet & Doris Dodson, she grew up on their farming homestead as a 4th generation Oregonian. She had fond memories of bottle feeding lambs and was a star volleyball player at Perrydale High School, class of '55. She married Dr. D. Robert Bartell, MD on April 7,1956 raising their three daughters Terri, Pam, & Susan in Albany, Oregon where she was a loving wife & mother. Her favorite joys were making her famous Snickerdoodle cookies and crafting special cards for all the important people in her life. Creating beautiful gardens & Disney were her passions.

They began living part time in Palm Springs, California at various country club settings. Then retiring to their water front home on Devils Lake in Lincoln City, Oregon where they lived until moving to the Dallas Retirement Village. She had a flair for decorating every holiday & season perfectly. Her thoughts were always to please others & make their lives better.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Donald Robert Bartell; Children: Terri Bartell (Thomas) Cafazzo, Pam Bartell (Brian) Vaughan, and Susan (Bill) Loomis; Siblings: Shirley Bird, Darlene Seeger, & Dean Dodson; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Bartell family during this difficult time. I hope you will find comfort in God's promise at John 11:24,25. Knowing there is a future for those we have lost in death can be very reassuring.

So sorry to hear of your great loss of loving spouse, mother, and grandmother. Your wonderful tribute to her memory is especially appreciated since unable to attend the service as planned. Countless good times shared in our youth as close friends, neighbors, and classmates will always be with my most precious memories.
