JANICE MARGARET VAN CLEAVE

February 19, 1940 - July 12, 2014

JANICE MARGARET (Buhmann) Van Cleave, 74, a twin, was born February 19, 1940 in Pendleton, Oregon the daughter of Clarence J. and Catherine A. McMullen Buhmann of Hermiston, Oregon. She attended grade school and high school in Hermiston, graduating in 1958. Janice attended the University of Oregon School of Nursing and the University of Oregon Medical School, graduating in 1962 with a B.S. degree in nursing. She married Fred M. Van Cleave on August 12, 1972 in Hermiston, Oregon. Her nursing career spanned over 37 years, working in various positions: hospital nursing, public health nursing and long-term care. The last 15 years were spent at the Dallas Retirement Village before retiring in June of 1999. Family and Church was her life. She was active in church her whole life and was a member of the First Christian Church in Dallas. She was a friend to seniors in her church, helping with her nursing knowledge when needed or requested, she was a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, served as a Deaconess, committee chairman, church dinners, C.W.F. She loved music, cooking, baking, planning and making meals and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed her flowers, reading, doing embroidery and traveling.

She is survived by her husband Fred of Dallas, son Gary (Diana) Van Cleave of Keizer, daughters Lori Van Cleave of Dallas and Audrey (Timothy) McClaughry of Salem, sisters Yvonne Henline of Walla Walla, Washington and JoAnn Barker of Keizer, brother-in-law John Graf of Portland, grandsons Garrett, Jared, Aaron and Trent Van Cleave, Evan Brown, Colton and Corbin McClaughry and a granddaughter Kayla McClaughry, nephews David Graf and Jason (Alexis) Graf. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Jeanette Graf in 2011.

A memorial service will begin at 11:00am Saturday, July 19th in the Dallas First Christian Church. Private family interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery. The Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family. To leave a memory or message for the family please go to www.dallastribute.com.
