1947 ~ 2014
Jeffrey (Jeff) Stanton Lang, age 66 years, Boise, ID passed away on February 10, 2014.
Jeff was born on April 18, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Shirley Villars Lang and Ellis Stanton Lang. Jeff spent his childhood in St. Paul and Denver, CO.
On December 28, 1974, he married Janet (Jan) Gamble Lang in Idaho Falls, ID. They just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary.
Jeff graduated from Central High School in St. Paul, MN in 1965, where he played football and ran track. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1965 and served thirteen months in Vietnam. After his discharge, he studied at the University of Minnesota and St. Cloud State until one of his professors told him of the best special education school in the West, University of Idaho. In 1971, he registered at the University and completed a Bachelor's degree in Special Education in 1972. Soon after, he completed a Master's degree, followed by an Education Specialist degree, also at the University of Idaho.
Jeff was employed by the Moscow, Idaho, School District, the Boulder, Colorado, School District, Brawley, California, School District, and Idaho Falls School District. He retired in 2008 after 36 years serving children with special needs. In 1985, Jeff served as President of the Idaho Council for Exceptional Children.
Jeff loved being outdoors. Snow, cross country and water skiing, jet skiing, biking, and boating were his passions. Camping with friends and family was also a favorite activity. For the past 27 years, the family has vacationed at Lake Pend Oreille.
Survivors include his wife Jan Lang of Boise, sons Tyler Stanton Lang (Jennifer Gates Lang) of Boise, and Brady Alexander Lang of Portland, OR, grandson Aidan Nobles of Idaho Falls, mother Shirley Lang, and brother Tom Lang (Susan) of Ventura, California, brother Steve (Pati) Lang of Sandpoint, and sister Linda (Paul) Schwamb of Apple Valley, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father Ellis Lang, and grandparents Grace and Gerald Villars and Cleo and Everett Lang.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the family home.
