Michael Campbell Obituary

Michael C. Campbell

October 26, 1956 - March 20, 2014

Michael C. Campbell completed his life journey on March 20, 2014 with his loved ones around him. Michael was born in Kennewick, Washington on October 26, 1956 to Dolores J. and Roland C. Campbell and resided in Connell Washington until he was 3 years old. He moved to Corvallis, Oregon for a short period and then the family moved to Pedee, Oregon on a 42 acres farm in 1962. Michael attended Pedee elementary school through the 2nd grade and then his family moved to the out skirts of Dallas, Oregon where he went to school from the third grade until he entered the U.S. Navy on February 28, 1974 at the age of 17.

Michael attended U.S. Navy Boot Camp in San Diego. He then attended Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. He retired as a Chief Radioman after more than 22 years of service. Michael was always proud of his duty as well as the dolphins he wore.

After the Navy Michael worked various jobs around the Vancouver Washington area. His last position was in Maintenance at the Georgia-Pacific Camas Washington Mill.

Michael had a love of the world around him, his and wife Linda's Campbell Soup collection, his volunteerism and his family especially Linda who he called "the most beautiful girl in the world". Michael also loved Hawaii having married his wife Linda for a second time on their 25th wedding anniversary on Oahu. He was proud of his Associates Degree from Clark College in Network Administration.

He is very missed by his family, wife of 31 years, Linda Campbell, Daughters Misty Carlson, 34, Nicole Campbell, 30, and Sons, Douglas Carmitchel, 33, Steven Campbell 27, and two brothers William Roland Campbell, 67 and Patrick Fred Campbell, 60; four grandchildren Taylor Howland, 16, Kylee Howland, 14, Jordon Campbell, 7, Mya Campbell, 5 and many First Cousins. To meet Mike was to "like" Mike.

A memorial service will be held on May 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Heights Church, Vancouver Washington. The family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Mike was my neighbor and my friend for many years, my family and I miss him so much. Mike was kind and generous always. His compassion and gentleness were so obvious every time my special needs son would show up at his door he would be welcomed by Mike and Linda not shunned as he is by others. I am a better person for having known you .

Mike's personality meshed so well with mine, felt like he was that missing brother. One of Mike's legacy is that he loved his wife greatly and genuinely. My only regret is that we didn't take the opportunity to sit down, eat, drink and laugh together, goodbye Friend, Father, Husband, you lived life well.

I know the entire family will miss Mike, and we offer our condolences and support in this your time of adjustment. Our love to you all, John & Valerie Stone & George Johnson

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), we offer our sincere condolences to Linda, Misty, Nicole, Douglas, and Steven, and all of Chief Campbell's family and friends in this time of mourning. May God bless you with peace, comfort, and the healing of your broken hearts. We are especially thankful for Michael's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our “Brother of the Dolphin” we say … "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."

So, heavenly Father add his name to the roll
Of our departed shipmates still on patrol.
Let them know that we who survive
Will always keep their memories alive.

Bless those who serve beneath the deep,
Through lonely hours their vigil keep.
May peace their mission ever be!
Protect each one, we ask of Thee.
Bless those at home who wait and pray
For their return by night and day.

Michael C. Campbell, RMC(SS), US Navy Retired, Now on Eternal Patrol.
Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate
His record is now posted online in the Eternal Patrol file on the USSVI website.

My heart is broken for all your family.
Mike was a wonderful man who loved his family with his whole heart.
Take comfort knowing he was escorted to heaven wrapped in angels wings and met by the loved ones that passed before him. He is still with you but in a different form where he is watching over all of you.

Linda
No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. But take comfort in knowing that Michael is watching over your. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. I extend my love and condolence. We love you very much.

Dad,

I can't tell you how much I miss you! You were the best dad a girl could ever ask for! Life does not/ and will never be the same ever again. You have always been a part of my life, it is hard to pick what life will be like without. I only pray that you are pain free and up with Grandma and Grandpa, that you are watching over me, and that you know how much I loved you, and that I would of given anything to trade places with you.
