Neal R. Fisher

KEIZER - Neal was born in Lebanon, Oregon to Ray and Leda Fisher on December 28, 1931, and graduated from Corvallis High School in 1950. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Oregon in 1955.He served in the Air Force as an auditor at Nellis Air Base in Las Vegas, Nevada for two years. He received his CPA certificate in 1962.Neal spent the rest of his career working for the State of Oregon as a State Auditor for the Secretary of State, as a Deputy Director for the Secretary of State, and as a Director for the Department of Finance and Administration, finally retiring after 18 years as Administrator for the Executive Department, Accounting Division.He was a longtime credit union volunteer, beginning his service more than thirty years ago as a member of the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Board of Directors. In 1998, Neal was elected Chairman of the SECU Board and took an active role in the merger of SECU and First Tech Credit Union. He served on the First Tech Board of Directors until his passing.Over the years, Neal enjoyed bowling and was a member of McNary Golf Course where he made two holes-in-one.Survivors include his wife, Arleta of Keizer; daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Pamela, Shawn, and Travis Zumwalt of Newberg; and brother, W. Vern Fisher of Keizer.Viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Mon., March 13 at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tues., March 14 at Salem Alliance Church in Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Union Gospel Mission of Salem. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
