Salem, Oregon - Richard L. Naegeli born in Silverton, Oregon. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and devoted friend, passed away in Salem on April 13th after some lengthy illnesses. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Although his illnesses were long, he still maintained his wit and sense of humor, making us laugh.

Survived by his wife Jois, whom he cherished and loved for 59 years. Son Bryan (Theresa), Son Darin (Sandy); 4 Grandsons Michael (Stephanie), Aaron (Tabitha), Adam & Kyle; 3 Great-grandchildren Colby, Brayden & Kolin. Sister Carol (Stan) Worley, Brother Don and Brother Ken (June), whom he preceded him in death.

After Graduating from Silverton High School. He went to Armstrong floor covering school in Lancaster, PA. He then went into the National Guard and became a medic. He worked for several flooring companies in Salem and was a manager for McGilchrist Roofing and Floor. Then he was employed with the City of Salem Fire Department on February 1, 1965 as a hose man. He was then promoted to Captain August 21,1982. He retired as of March 29th 1994 at the age of 58. In the summer months of 1981-1983 he enjoyed driving greyhound buses for the Argonauts Drum & Bugle Corp, which traveled around the United States performing at competitions.

His hobbies included his love of big band and Jazz music, golf, hunting, camping and traveling the United States in his RV. One of his favorite places to visit was Hawaii.

At his request there will be no services but we will be having a celebration of life at his home on Sunday April 23, 2017 between the hours of 1-5pm, the day that he would have had his 80th birthday.

Our loving, strong willed, softhearted husband, father, grandfather and friend will be truly missed.
