Friends and family of Bob. I had the very good fortune of playing beside Bob for many years in the Bill DeSousa band. Bob was always kind and encouraging to me and the other band members. Bob could make jazz from a simple melody. His solos were never the most technical but they were always swinging. They always fit the tune.

I met Bob playing with the Keizer band, it was probably 2008. He always had that wonderful smile that other people talked about, and boy could he play those trumpet solos! He loved playing that trumpet and his solos were presented in the style of "big band music". I feel so honored and lucky to have been a friend of Bob Shunke. May peace be with him.

I met Bob and Ruth in college. They were parents of Nancy my sorority sister and best friend. He was always smiling, just the nicest person you could meet. I remember Nancy telling me how he took skiing lessons as an adult and somewhat late in life to be able to ski with her. A wonderful man who will be missed. The family is in my thoughts and prayers. Sending Love,Tonya, Steve, and Tea'
