Ruby Rue Obituary
Ruby Rue of Salem, Oregon peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on September 21, 2013 surrounded by her daughters.
Nearly ninety years ago in Silverton, Oregon, Olga and Joseph LeRud celebrated the birth of their firstborn child, Ruby. She grew up on the family farm with her sister Joyce and brother Marvin. They attended a one room school house on weekdays and church on Sundays. After high school graduation she attended business school and became a skilled secretary and bookkeeper.
After World War II when Norman Rue came home to Silverton, they married, settled in Salem, and became members of Central Lutheran Church where they both were wholeheartedly involved in the life of the church. When twin daughters Ellen and Eileen were born, their joy was magnified as they grew and learned to love music.
Ruby was especially fond of travel with her family all over the USA, Canada, and abroad. With the inclusion of sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, an annual vacation at the Oregon Coast was greatly treasured. Ruby found enjoyment creating meticulous Hardanger stitchery, landscape paintings, and intricate Rosemaling art.
Ruby is survived by her sister Joyce, daughters Ellen (Mike) and Eileen (Bruce); grandchildren Matthew , Melissa, Aaron (Kristin) and Andrew; great- grandchild Tallis; and many nieces and nephews that have upheld her in prayer and have likewise been blessed.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday September 28, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1998 Lansing Avenue NE, Salem.
Memorials may be sent to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Salem, or the American Cancer Society.

When my brother Nicholas and myself went to Sunday school when we were little boys, the high of the event was always getting to see and visit with Mrs. Rue. A true Angel has been called home.

I will miss you Ruby and I will miss seeing you working in your beautiful rose garden, it was a joy to see your roses every day as I walked out of my house. Ruby, I am picturing you in the arms of Jesus. I will see you there one day. It was such a joy meeting Eileen and Ellen, you brought such joy and peace to your mom. God Bless all of you, you are in my prayers.

I am going to miss Ruby's many visits to Faith Lutheran, with her always present smile and graciousness! In every way, she was a light among us, and quite the trooper until her last days here! The gates of heaven are open wide for her arrival, and we won't forget the gifts she left with us. My heart goes out to all of you who loved her and whom she loved. She has been ours to treasure and is now God's to hold close.
