Woodburn, OR - Sharon Lee Lorenz Bechtold of Woodburn, Oregon died peacefully on the morning of February 3, 2017 at Cherrywood Memory Care in McMinnville, Oregon.
Born in Anaconda, Montana, March 5, 1938 to Alice Dorthy (McCarvel) Lorenz and Ambrose "Bee" Carl Lorenz. Sharon was the oldest of four children, including sisters Carole Ann Thomas and Mariellen Rich, half-brothers David Lorenz and Carl Lorenz, and is preceded in death by brother Ronald Carl Lorenz. Sharon was an excellent student at Grants Pass High School and attended Marylhurst College in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Sharon married August 22, 1959 in Portland, Oregon and is survived by her loving life partner, Roger Kermit Bechtold, and her three children, Ronald Kirk Bechtold, Teresa Lynn Young and Daniel Patrick Bechtold. She was the proud grandmother of seven: Annika, Nolan, and Anton McPeek-Bechtold, Kiana and Tanner Young, and Alexandra and Madison Bechtold.
She brought skill and diligence to her work and had a long career in administration at Omark Industries in Portland, Boeing and Weyerhaeuser in Washington State, and State Farm in Beaverton before her retirement to Woodburn with Roger. Throughout her life she enjoyed square-dancing and her work with the Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn, Oregon, with a 1:30 Rosary the same day. There will be a Celebration of Life afterwards at the Woodburn Senior Estates Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in Sharon's name.
