Wanda Erwin Obituary
January 23, 1930 - December 4, 2016
Salem - Wanda Sharp caught the attention of Hugh Erwin when they both worked summer jobs at King's Canyon National park in 1949. Sixty five years of marriage and four children later, she still had it.
Born in Steele, Missouri, raised in Visalia, California by adoptive parents Thomas and Stella Sharp, Wanda graduated from UC Berkeley in 1951. She and Hugh were married that same year in Visalia, moving to Long Beach while Hugh Served in the U.S. Navy. From Long Beach they migrated to the San Francisco Bay Area and were blessed with 4 children. Hugh worked as a CPA and Wanda a special education teacher. Wanda's wit attracted eclectic friends like treasures. In 1995 they made their final home in Salem.
Wanda Carolyn Erwin is survived by Hugh, their four children, Deborah Medley (Joe), Jeffrey Erwin (Margaret), Jane Pope (Jeff), and Jennifer Furlong (Don); 5 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and her beloved granddaughter Robin.
Funeral Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Salem on Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by City View Funeral Home.
