Bessie Dobson

Bessie Stikeleather Dobson, 97, of Hickory Highway, Statesville, went to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, May 9, 2009. She was sick for a month and passed at home. She was a beloved aunt and friend to the many who knew her. She was married to James Herman Dobson, who preceded her in death. She attended Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She worked at Beauty Maid Mills in the sewing room and retired at age 81. She is survived by a sister, Ruth (Bob) Stikeleather Privette, of Statesville. Also, surviving are nieces and nephews; Jim (Bonnie) Stikeleather, of Charlotte, Jeff (Jane) Stikeleather, of Mill Spring, Lynne (Charles) Stikeleather Pope, of Stony Point, Teina (Bobby) Stikeleather Waugh, of Mooresville, Dixie (Mickey) Hoke Harris, of Statesville, Amye (Kevin) Hoke Wiggins, of Taylorsville, Wade (Linda) Hoke, of Wilkesboro, Wayne (Bernice) Dagenhart, of Statesville, Billy Dagenhart, of Statesville, Betty Warwick Taylor, of Lumberton, Gladys Stikeleather Johnson, of Statesville, Thad (Judy) Stikeleather, of Statesville and by many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Stikeleather and James Stikeleather, and by four sisters, Elizabeth Warwick, Rena Wallace, Ollie Dagenhart and Reba Hoke. Special friends that meant very much to her are Helen Cashion, Terri Rollins, Tom Taylor, Joe Beason and care giver Pat Hayes. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church, Island Ford Road. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Jim Stikeleather, Jeff Stikeleather, Wade Hoke, Billy Dagenhart, Charles Pope and Bobby Waugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Taylor and Joe Beason. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2116 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
