David Imschweiler Obituary

Lt. Col. David Imschweiler

Lt. Col. David R. Imschweiler, U.S. Army, 86, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House.

He was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Richard Imschweiler and Anna Moore Imschweiler.

David graduated from LaSalle University in 1956, with a BA in Business Administration and Distinguished Military Graduate ROTC. He served 22 years of active and reserve service in the U.S. Army, as an infantry officer and nuclear weapons officer and a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He retired in 1996, after a 30 year career as a vice president and trust officer with Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and North Carolina. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed cruising and traveling in retirement.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Rebecca "Tommye" Evans Imschweiler of Statesville; two children, Deborah McNally of Raleigh and David Imschweiler of Spring Hill, Fla.; four grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Military Officers Association of America Benevolent Fund, Catawba Valley Chapter in Hickory; or Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
