Kemp Sherrill MOORESVILLE Kemp Kistler Sherrill, 95, of Mooresville passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012. at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Mr. Sherrill was born Dec. 4, 1916 in Iredell County, son of the late Guy Newton Sherrill and Lillie Thompson Sherrill. He had been a lifelong resident of Mooresville. He was a World War II veteran of foreign wars in Headquarters Company, 1st Army serving in the European Theater of Operations under combat conditions. He was owner and operator of K. K. Sherrill Texaco Service Station on Highway 150 West for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He worked at Davidson College from 1976 until 1997. He was a faithful member of Centre Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by brothers, Kermet Sherrill and Keith Sherrill. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Geneva Moose Sherrill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly Kistler and Frankie Sherrill, of Conover and Bobby Douglas (Squirrel) and Sheree Sherrill, of Mooresville; brothers, Kara Sherrill, of Statesville and Kress Sherrill and wife, Joan Sherrill, of Mooresville; sisters, Sarah Thompson, of Troutman, Summa West and husband, Ralph, of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Khevin Kistler Sherrill and wife, Sandy, of Mooresville, Ashley Thompson and husband Matt, Brooke Leslie and husband, Josh, of Mooresville and Brian Kistler Sherrill, of Conover; great-grand-children, Stevie Christine Sherrill, of Mooresville, Charles Mason Thompson, of Mooresville, Jada Reese Leslie and Addisyn Claire Leslie, of Mooresville. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 7, from 12 to 1 p.m., at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens.
