Alice Bell Obituary

Alice (Washington) Bell, 86, of St. Augustine, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 after a long battle with cancer at Northeast Florida Community Hospice in Jacksonville. She was born in Alachua, Fla., but had been a resident of St. Augustine since 1943. She was employed by the St. Johns County School Board until she retired in 1985. She was a cafeteria assistant and she served on Usher Board No. 1 at her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Bell and a second son, Lyndell Dailey.

She is survived by her son, retired Army First Sergeant, Charles (Koonce) Lewis and wife (Vicki) of Savannah, Ga.; three daughters, Frankie Mae Moore of St. Augustine, Mary Catherine Glanton of Beaver Falls, Pa., Ina Pearl Ellis of Lexington, Ky.; two granddaughters, Angela Lewis of Aurora, Colo., and Curemia Dailey of St. Augustine; one brother-in-law, Edgar Williams of Jacksonville; one godson, Michael Swilley of St. Augustine; four special friends, Fannie Willis, Elizabeth Manuel Bailey and Frank Lewis of St. Augustine and Easter Hill of Jacksonville; and a host of other family and friends.

Viewing will be at the St. Paul AME Church Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at the St. Paul AME Church. The Rev. Tony Hannah, officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Leo C. Chase & Son Funeral Home.
