Edwin O. Clements Jr., 74, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2016. He was a native of Jacksonville, where he worked as a financial advisor with National Life and was a beloved basketball coach at Trinity Christian Academy. Ed moved to St. Augustine in 2001 where he was the executive director of the Women's Refuge of St. Johns County and a faithfully active member of Turning Point at Calvary Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joan F. Clements, and is survived by two daughters, Alice (Tim) Drake of Cumming, Georgia, and Laura Miller of Winter Garden; brother-in-law, Brooks (Linda) Faison of Ponte Vedra Beach; and five grandchildren, Garrett and Anna Drake and Megan, Lauren, and Michael Miller.
Services will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine with family and friends being received prior to the service beginning at 8:45a.m. Graveside service and burial will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens (Trinity Baptist Church) in Jacksonville at noon.
At Ed's request, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Women's Refuge of St. Johns County (P.O. Box 1430, St. Augustine, FL 32085) will be appreciated.

After I graduated from Trinity Christian academy in 1986 I didn't really keep up with the people that influenced my life but I never forget anyone especially my coaches. I remember Coach Ed had a heart to heart talk with me my senior year. I really didn't want to play basketball my senior season . But Coach Ed had his talk with me and I finished my senior season and couldn't be more proud of playing for Coach.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. Have known him & Joan for over 50 years from Brentwood Baptist years. Knew him personally & through his business. He took care of most of our insurance needs for many, many years. Our prayers & thoughts are with the family.

I have such great memories of your Mom and Dad at Trinity. Your Dad coached my son David in Basketball. Your mom and I had some great times together. We all loved it when your dad would sing in church. Great memories. I know how hard it is to lose both so close together. God will strengthen you both.

We are sorry that we never had the opportunity to meet any of Ed's and Joan's children and grandchildren, but our hearts are saddened for all of you as you have experienced the loss of both your mom and dad in such a short time. We are praying for you to know the peace of our Lord that passes all understand- ing during this difficult time.

Your dad was such a blessing to us as a member of our Board of Directors for many years at Life Exchange Ministries in Vero Beach. Even before that, he and your mom went through our counselor training program and became dear friends. We cherish precious memories of times spent with them in both our home and theirs. We loved them dearly and know they loved their family deeply as they shared many special memories of you with us.

Knowing your dad and mom are now with the Savior they loved and obeyed is the greatest comfort of all. God bless you all.

Sorry to hear of Ed's passing, but glad he is no longer suffering. I know he is with his loving wife Joan again and with our Lord. They were a very spiritual couple.

Joan and Ed were good friends and neighbors here in Lions Gate.
