Helen Bell Obituary

Helen Joan Bell, age 95, passed away on November 23, 2018.
Helen was one of four daughters born to the late Frank and Mary Ellen Gormley of Elmhurst in Queens County, New York City. Helen, and her husband LeRoy, moved to Syosset LI in 1955 to raise a family. They began a new chapter in a wonderful life making many life-long friends while providing generous volunteer services to her Parish, St. Edward the Confessor. Thirty-one years later, Helen and LeRoy packed up for St. Augustine to enjoy the fruits of retirement. Helen dedicated her life to her family and will always be remembered as a loving mother and friend to many.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Alison Bell of South Orange, NJ; sister Barbara Gormley of St. Augustine; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by death by her husband LeRoy, her daughter Maryellen Sherlock and sisters, Mary Nolan and Anne Boughton.
Helen's family would like to thank the staff at Bayview for their wonderful care.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am this Friday, November 30th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Special Olympics are welcome.

I am so sorry I didn't know. I knew Mrs. Bell for my whole life - and couldn't ever call her anything but "Mrs. Bell". We were neighbors in Syosset and she was my mothers best friend. She and Mom can get together now - and get in more trouble - like the old days.
Love,
