James E. "Jim" Travers, 77, of St. Augustine, died on May 29, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in New York City, N.Y., and was a longtime resident of Bloomfield, N.J., before retiring to St. Augustine in 1995. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
For nearly 40 years, Jim served as payroll manager for Worthington Pump Co. in East Orange, N.J.
Jim spent the last 14 years diligently overseeing the Point Matanzas condominium complex. His latest effort was the recent addition of a brand new boat dock in the river. It was a labor of love that he excelled at. His friends and neighbors will sorely miss these efforts moving forward.
He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kevin Patrick Younkins; a sister, Margaret Reap; and a brother, William Travers.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Travers of St. Augustine; sons, James Travers and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Peter Travers, and his wife, Donna, of Pompton Plains, N.J.; a daughter, Mary Wolfarth and her husband, James, of Forest Hill, Md.; sisters, Elizabeth Britton of Texas and Anna Martin of New Jersey; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with Father Seamus O'Flynn officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with prayers beginning at 5 p.m.
Interment in the Cloisters Columbarium at St. Anastasia Catholic Church will take place at a later date.

St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
