It was my great pleasure to work with your Dad from 1986 unitl he retired I believe. I worked as a PA, SM, and AD at "All My Children" through those years. I LOVED Jack! He was funny, kind, and talented. He reminded me of my own father, a charming Irishman, born in Brooklyn in the '20's and who served as a Navyman in WWII, dedicated to his large family. I can't tell you how many fun times we had in the Studio 17/18. I remember him writing my family into one of the scripts just to give me a chuckle. I always recall one story Jack told of how one day when your mother was pregnant (when was she not?), she was putting away the dishes and dropped one of them and she started to cry. He told us he took a bunch of the dishes and just tossed them on the floor and told her it wasn't worth crying over and they'd just get more. :) Indicative of the kind of guy he was. I often thought of Jack in the years after and wondered how he was doing. It sounds like he had a long, wonderful life. He deserved it. The world will miss him. He was one of the good ones. xo

I met Mr. Coffey briefly as a hospice volunteer soon after the death of his wife. As fate would have it, he had gone to high school with my dad at Brooklyn Technical High School-one of the finest high schools in the country. I was heartbroken to return from vacation and learn of his passing but was so happy to hear he was reunited with his wife who he loved and missed so much. I am forever changed by the brief time I was privileged to share with him. Comfort and joyful memories to his family and those who loved him.
