Martin Drucker Obituary

Martin "Marty" Drucker, 81, of St. Augustine Beach and Livingston, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, 2017, at the Bailey Center in St. Augustine. He was predeceased by his mother, Gertrude (Markman), his father, Monroe, and his brother, Burton. Born Dec. 19, 1935, in Queens, New York, and raised in Orange, New Jersey, he graduated from Orange High School and took classes at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He proudly served twice in the U.S. Army.

As a young man, he worked in an auto laundry and from there developed a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his career. He began his career in international sales at Federal Pacific in Des Plaines, Illinois, then continued on to Cornell Dubilier in New York City. He went on to join Diplomat Electronics in 1973 to build and run its international division. In 1980, he joined Moncloa Electronics, and then in 1987 became vice president of the international division of Nu Horizons Electronics, which he built and ran until he retired in 2003. He was an avid sports fan, particularly basketball and football, and loved jazz music, fishing, and telling stories. He was known for his passion for horse racing and loved to entertain with his card tricks and yo-yo skills. Marty could often be seen teaching his family and friends his "secret handshake."

While he was proud to have been a New Jersey native, St. Augustine always had a special place in his heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first.

Survivors include Marygrace Drucker (Freda), his wife of 52 years; two daughters, Karen Drucker Baka and Jim Baka of Long Beach Island, New Jersey; Sandi Drucker Wright and Chris Wright of Manhattan, New York; three granddaughters, Morgan, Maisie, and Alex Wright; and two nieces and two nephews.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, officiated by Rabbi Mona Decker.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bailey Center c/o Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Flowers are respectfully declined. Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.

I worked with Marty at Diplomat Electronics, I was a young man then, he was a fun guy who taught me how to drive, enjoy jazz music and Michael Franks, also about horse racing. He was a hard worker and full of life. Rest In Peace my teacher. Condolences to his friends and family. I was lucky to have know him! I am including my number Just in case.

Well Marty it has been a very long time since you and I attended classes at OHS. You always had something funny to say about how the school was run and how we were being prepared to face the obstacles which would confront us after graduation.

You never let anything get you down. No matter how serious a political matter appeared that emerged you seemed to have an comment to make a joke out of it. You always seemed to have everyone in your immediate surroundings wired so you would have the right response to any given situation.

You did not like that Korean War at all as I recall. But now rest is peace you have done it all and for your benefit.

I remember Marty from Cornell Dubilier. We had the same boss and were great co-workers who had worked hard but also had a good time at the job. We had a great team at Cornell. I often thought about Marty & MaryGrace (2 beautiful people) through the years. Marty was a great guy who always made me laugh and was so thoughtful and caring. May he Rest In Peace.
