Rachel Higgins Obituary
Rachel Michelle Higgins, 33, St. Augustine, died July 17, 2008, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born in Norwalk, Calif., and had resided in St. Augustine since 2005, moving here from Ackworth, Ga. She had worked as an optician's assistant, and she was an avid Florida Gator fan. She was an active volunteer with the Beacon of Hope Christian School, and she was training to serve as a missionary in the Philippines with the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the chapel of St. Johns Family Funeral Home with the Rev. LaVoy Newton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, 385 State Road 207.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution to Prosperity Bank Account # 8014446020 for her daughter, Rhiannon Higgins.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhiannon Higgins; her parents, Eugene and Rita Bearden, all of St. Augustine; sisters, Patricia Felix, San Francisco, Calif., Linda Zollo, Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Vince Jimno, Charleston, S.C., Ken Jimno, Lakeland, Fla., James Jimno, St. Augustine; paternal grandmother, Rachel Bearden, Ashville, Ala.; maternal grandmother, Delia Avilez, Laguna Woods, Calif.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and dear friend, Karrie.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

To my cousin Rita and her family, I just found out today about Rachel's passing and was deeply saddened. I have never met her but I have always tried to keep in touch with Rita. I can only imagine what you must be going through. My uncle Smiles and my dad were there to meet Rachel and they will be there to greet us when our time comes. I know that the Lord did not have Rachel suffer, at her hour of death Our Heavenly Father is a loving God, he just picked her from this earth and carried her into his arms. Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of Rachel. She was a beauty, both inside and out. She will be missed.
It seems like only yesterday Ken was talking through the stove exhaust to announce his presence. I often wonder if he ever learned how to knock or use a doorbell. :) Miss Rita sold us our first house in which many memories were made.
We may have lost touch over the years, but you and your family have not been forgotten.

It seems like the next day, Lana and Rita finally consented on meeting each other at the urging of our kids.
