Dr. Robert Taylor Scott IV

1932 - 2006

The Rev. Dr. Robert Taylor Scott, IV, 74, of Palm Coast, a retired Episcopal priest and religion professor, died Friday at home. Born in Richmond, Va., he graduated from the University of Virginia and Virginia Seminary, received a PhD from Duke where he also taught. He taught at the University of Florida and other universities and retired as Emeritus Professor from Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C. where he was also rector of Christ Church. He received many academic awards. He was chaplain in the U.S. Navy. A lifelong activist, Scott was involved in many human rights issues. He often preached in St.

Augustine.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Enge Scott; sister, Mary Blair Valentine of Richmond; daughter, Mary Carter Scott of New York City; son, Robert T. Scott V of Willianston, Mich. and their mother, Mary Zarantonello of California; daughter-in-law, Marcia Scott; grandchildren Robinson Scott; Alexandra Scott; Christian Scott; stepson, David Goldman and wife Jeanne; stepdaughter Holli Goldman Berry and husband Louis; step-grandchildren, Garrett and Dawson Goldman; Mora Lilli Berry.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Gainesville, Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. and in Florence, Sunday May 14 at 4 p.m.
