Susan Tully Obituary

Susan Floyd Tully, 57, passed away at her home in Crescent Beach on Aug. 14, 2010.

Susan was a lifelong resident of St. Johns County. She was born and raised in Racey Point, Fla., graduated from Hastings High School and went on to earn a BS degree in nursing from the University of North Florida. She worked for GI Associates of St. Augustine for many years as manager of the surgery center.

After meeting Randy Byrd, the love of her life for the past 13 years, she retired from GI Associates and became an integral part of managing Randy Byrd Farms.

Susan was a lifelong member of St. Paul"s Episcopal Church in Federal Point, Fla. In 1964, she won the title of Junior Miss of St. Augustine. While attending Hastings High School, she was a cheerleader and majorette. Susan had many talents, which included being an accomplished hunter and fisherwoman.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, which includes her daughter, Heather Maltby; fiance, Randy Byrd; mother, Edna Floyd, all of St. Augustine; sisters, Belle Rader of Palm Coast, Fla., Sharon (Francis) Pacetti of Omega, Ga., and Darlene Franke of Salem, Mo.; brothers, Larry Stevens of St. Augustine and Barry (Joyce Ann) Mahr of Federal Point; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Crescent Beach Baptist Church followed by a reception at the church. Pastor David Beauchamp will officiate the service. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or a memorial donation to the American Cancer Association would be appreciated.

Craig Funeral Home, Crematory and Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.

Heather, Randy and the Floyd family: I am so honored to have called Susan my sister and also have her marry into my family. Never have I known such a loving, supportive, compassionate person, who handled life with the utmost of Grace. She always smiled and offered a kind word, no matter what the circumstance. May her light continue to burn bright in the lives of those she touched. May we find the peace that she exhibited in her life. Much love to you all. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Heather,
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dear mother. I only met her a couple times, however; I do remember a beautiful card and photos of Nathan skating that she mailed me after his death. That gesture meant so very much to me. You are in my thoughts and prayers Heather. I understand how you feel with your great loss. I really don't know what to say and for those of you that know me this is a first. It seems like yesterday we were attending your fathers funeral however so much time has passed and you finally found the love of your life and such a good fine man. All I can say is I am shocked and heaven will be better place with you there and you will be sorely missed here. Never saw Susan without a smile on her face. God speed my friend.
