Betty Jane Fischer- Iber, age 88, of Plover, died at home January 2, 2016.

Betty was born to the late Alvin and Edress (Dolan) Fischer on December 22, 1927 in Plainfield, WI.

She married Dr. Frank Iber on December 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1990.

Betty had a strong love for animals and shared that love by helping and supporting the development of the Portage County Humane Society; which officially opened in January of 1972. She later became the President of the Humane Society and served for many years. Betty never stopped her continued love, care and compassion for animals. -Many of her animals were with her and would not leave her side when she passed.

Betty was also very involved with the American Cancer Society. She had worked endless hours as the Co-Chairman within rural areas. Fundraising was her priority, and she would often reach more than the goals that were initially set.

Often during the summer months, you could find Betty working on her flower beds. She also enjoyed going for drives back to Plainfield, WI to reminisce and monitor the community changes through the years.

She is survived by her two children, Renee (Thomas) Haase of Stevens Point and Richard (Jeff Sappanfield-Iberfield) Iber-Iberfield of Dallas, TX; numerous grandchildren and extended family members.

Betty is preceded in death by her brothers, Bernum and Jerry Lee Fischer.

A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Al Moen presiding. A Time of Visitation and Sharing Memories will precede the funeral from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

She will be missed and loved by all who knew her. May she find happiness and the comfort of many animals at her next residence.
