Chad Godin Obituary

Chad Godin

Stevens Point - Chad Godin, age 48, of Stevens Point, passed away Thursday morning July 29, 2021.

A Celebration of Life Service for Chad will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 7, 2021 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel: 3200 Stanley St. Stevens Point. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9:00 - 10:45 AM prior to the service Saturday at Shuda's.

Chad was born January 31, 1973 in Stevens Point, the son of Anita Godin. He graduated from SPASH in 1991.

As a kid he loved trucks and story books. Growing up his favorite TV show was Dukes of Hazard. Baseball was his life, He played little league and American Legion Baseball, He also belonged to youth bowling at Point Bowl. Mike Jamrosz was his closest friend. He did really well in school until 1st grade when he told his mom he hated that the teacher only talked about squares and circles; he hated this almost as much as he hated doing the dishes. He would vacation with his grandma Bernie and she would take him fishing on the banks of Nepco Lake.

His mom would take him camping in Wild Rose where Chad would fish day and night. His Grandpa Warren was his hero. He also loved to go to Brewer games, Gorman Thomas was his favorite player.

Chad was a kind, courageous, hard working, selfless, Father, coach and best friend. He brought joy, laughter, and purpose to the lives of all he loved. He dedicated many years of his life to coaching his daughters in softball. Ensuring each season they had fresh cleats, a brand new bat and a well broken in glove. For out of town tournaments he always made sure to book the hotel with the best waterslides. Chad lived his life for his daughters, wanting nothing more than to see them succeed in every way possible.

One of his biggest dreams as a kid was to one day drive a "big brown truck." After working night shift for years, he finally reached his goal when he became a UPS driver, where he worked for more than 20 years. Nothing made his heart happier than meeting new customers and visiting the regulars. His favorite part of his job was being able to give treats to all the good dogs on his route.

Chad loved to fish and hunt. He could empty out a pool with his cannonball. He took pride in having the greenest grass on the block and growing more vegetables in his garden than he could eat in a lifetime. His favorite way to relax was watching American Pickers or Cops and snuggling with his dogs Magnum and Zeus. You could often find him watching any sports game; baseball, football, basketball or sometimes even racing; screaming at the tv, cheering on his favorite team. His favorite meal was a family sized bucket from KFC with all the sides, although he might have told you a heath flurry from belts was his favorite "meal." He spent almost every Fathers Day at the ball park rooting for his two girls to take home first place.

Chad was a best friend to so many. He always made sure everyone else's needs were met before his own, this includes making sure anyone who stepped into his home was always very well fed. He loved to cook. He could grill up a Ribeye better than anyone else, cook BBQ ribs that would blow your mind and make chicken soup that could cure any sickness. He never took life too seriously, it was impossible to be around this goofy, fun loving man without spending the entire time laughing. Above all else, he loved with all he had.

Chad Godin will be missed more than he ever could have imagined.

He is survived by his daughters: Kelsey (Simon) Schultz and Hailee Godin (fiancé' Eric Sankey). His mother Anita (Jim) Borski; his aunt Joyce Godin, former spouse Shawn (John) Donahue. His dogs Magnum and Zeus.

I'll always remember Chad as a good friend and fishing buddy. He dragged me all over central WI in search of the "big one". We had some good times.
