Growing up in Stevens Point, there were very few things that I looked forward to as much as going to The Overlook. On weekends, my mother would give me and my two brothers our allowance and we would make the trip downtown to visit Dennis. He would greet us as we came in and made our way back to the comic book racks. Dennis made us feel welcome as we looked through the comics deciding which to spend our money on. If Dennis was busy, I would sometimes wait before checking out so as to avoid Dean. He seemed too scary. Afterwards, we would go home and read through our latest purchases. Each trading comics until they were all read. My mother would often say it was the quietest 3 hours she got all week and well-worth the $10 she gave each of us for an allowance. One time I was calling to check if the store was open (I had the number memorized), and just as I was calling out of the house, my step-father was calling in. I thought Dennis had answered but there was no hello. I asked "Dennis?" My step-father decided to have a little fun with it. He said "Hello, Overlook" and I asked how late the store would be open. He told me a time and I said good-bye. After we hung up, he called back and everyone had a good laugh, although I don't remember thinking it was particularly funny, especially since the store was closed that day. To this day, I still catch grief about calling "Dennis." After my wife and I bought our house, I went and got the boxes of comic books from my mother's home. All of them sealed shut. Now they are downstairs waiting for my two sons to enjoy. The Overlook was great and the memories priceless. Thank you, Dennis

We are going to miss Dennis so very much, but we have so many wonderful memories to comfort us. The beautiful garden Judy and Dennis created will be around for many years to enjoy.
