Dorothy Slorarek-Jackson Obituary

Dorothy Slosarek-Jackson

New London - Dorothy Anna (Bellile) Slosarek-Jackson, age 92, passed away late Thursday evening, July 1, 2021 at her home with her family at her side, while under the care of Heartland Hospice. Dorothy was born December 11, 1928 in the Township of Hortonia. She was the daughter of the late Lester and Elsa (Roepke) Bellile. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church, and also attended grade school there before graduating from Washington High School (which is now the Washington Center) in 1947. Dorothy married Robert E. Slosarek on July 2, 1949 at Emanuel Lutheran Church. After their marriage, the couple settled in New London. Her husband Bob preceded her in death in 1991. Dorothy then met and married Jacob Jackson in November of 2002. He preceded her in death in 2011. Dorothy started working at the age of 14 as a pinsetter for the local bowling alley and had various jobs before retiring from Heritage Animal Hospital in 1995. Dorothy was generous with her time, as she volunteered during election time at the polls on voting day, and also was very proud of donating over 35 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. She was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 2732 of New London. Dorothy loved camping; visiting many of the state campgrounds, putting puzzles together, reading and watching the Hallmark Channel. She enjoyed flower gardening, and in her early years, her and Bob enjoyed cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking trails while camping.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Rhonda (John) Suchon, Plover, Robert P. (Lynn) Slosarek, Appleton and Gary (Deb) Slosarek, New London. Thirteen grandchildren: Sarah (Shawn) Dresel, Andy Suchon, Lucas Suchon and Alex (Jessie) Suchon, Carrie (Jeff) Lemahieu, Casey (Ed) Bonilla and Jason (Kat) Slosarek, Kristie (Troy) Moder, Kevin Slosarek, Gail (Mike) Wisniewski, Erin Slosarek, Mark (Heather) Slosarek, Ryan (Katie) Slosarek and many great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Bob and Jacob, seven brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the church until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Hortonville.

Dorothy was a great friend and neighbor for our mom, Dorothy. She was just one of the many Dorothy's in the neighborhood. We loved our conversations with her and her neighborhood news. Just a kind, wonderful person.
