Irene Sroda Obituary
Stevens Point - Irene J. (Tork) Sroda, 92, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2021.
Irene was born January 23, 1929 in Stevens Point to the late Mike and Regina (Przekurat) Tork.
Irene attended St. Peter's Elementary School and St. Joseph's Academy (now known as Pacelli High School), serving as Class President and Senior Prom Queen, thereat graduating in 1947. She married the love of her life, Warnard "Ike" Sroda, on September 1, 1952. They enjoyed every day of their 66 years together, before Ike passed away on January 15, 2019.
Her career involved 30 years at Rollin Mabie's Certified Public Accounting firm. She then went on
to work for Wisconsin Public Service, being a Bailiff at the Portage County Courthouse and a Processor at Sentry Insurance Co. She and her husband went on to develop 4 area subdivisions and did some
home building. They donated 76 acres to the City of Stevens Point for a park and enough wildlife property along the Wisconsin River to complete The Green Circle Trail of Portage County.
Survivors include her son, Bruce (fiancee, Nannette Martineau) of Stevens Point and one brother, Edward (Dorothy) Tork who resides in Clearwater, FL and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country.
She enjoyed traveling with Ike in their R.V. camper along with many fine folk of the two camping
clubs they were members of for nearly 30 years, namely The Valley Bummers and The Drifters.
She loved watching her son play sports and her husband who coached youth baseball teams for 8 years.
Her hobbies included cooking, baking, accounting and camping.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Wellington Place, Stevens Point, WI who referred to Irene as "Grandma". She will be missed by her "family" there.
Please join us on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 1:00-3:00pm at the Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley Street in Stevens Point, WI. Together we can be united and share our many memories of Irene. A private family burial will be at a later date. In lieu of gifts, please make a donation to Wellington Place at Whiting, in honor of Grandma Irene.
