Jennie Mocadlo Obituary

Mocadlo, Jennie

Jennie Mocadlo, 95, of 5931 Old Highway 18, Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, Sep. 11, 2015, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Plover, where she resided since January of 2015.

Jennie was born on April 3, 1920, in Stevens Point. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Tofel) Serafin. Her marriage to Leo Mocadlo took place on April 15, 1947, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage prior to Leo's death on March 7, 2009.

Prior to her marriage, Jennie worked for Frost Flying Tackle. She then worked alongside her husband on the family dairy farm until their retirement in 1975. After retirement, she continued her passion for gardening. Her greatest joy was to plant and transplant her many vegetable, fruit, berry and perennial gardens. In addition to gardening, she was an avid reader of historic novels, enjoyed lunches with the girls, and loved sweets. "Great-Grandma Apple Juice," as she was referred to by her great-grandchildren, always had candy in a dish, a well-stocked cookie jar and juice boxes on-hand. She loved when the great-grandchildren visited to raid the cookie jar and pantry. At Christmas and Easter, you could always find between 40-50 family members at her home. Not surprising, since she was an excellent cook, with her pumpkin pie being the best.

Survivors include her seven children, Thomas (Sandy) of Stevens Point, Leo Jr. (Lois) of Wisconsin Rapids, Margaret (Robert) Jakusz of Stevens Point, Rosemary (Larry) Gagas of Custer, Leonard (Marilyn) of Stevens Point, Bernard (special friend, Donna Fenner) of Stevens Point, and Anthony (Mary) of Amherst; 12 grandchildren, Shawn Lea, Thomas Jr., Tim and Andrew Mocadlo, Julie Running, Karlyn and Brian Jakusz, Randy, Jeff and Kevin Gagas, Amy Blaskowski, and Jennifer Nickel; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecelia (DeLloyd) Kaczmarek; one sister-in-law, Theresa Serafin; two brothers-in-law, John and Hubert Mocadlo.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jennie was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Ben, Victor, Stanley and Alfred; four sisters, Eva, Sophie, Agnes and Alice.

The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sep. 15, 2015, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Holy Spirit Parish (838 Fremont Street, Stevens Point) with the Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday (today) at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home (703 Second Street, Stevens Point); and again at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbie, Grace, the CNAs of Ministry Hospice and the caregivers at The Lodge at Whispering Pines for their loving and devoted care.
