Marian Walczak Obituary

Walczak, Marian

Marian Walczak, age 87, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 24, 2016 at St. Michael's Hospital.

Marian was born December 23, 1928 in Stevens Point to the late Matthew and Rose (Grzywacz) Zaborowski. She attended St. Peter's grade school, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1947.

She married John (Jack) Walczak, the love of her life, on May 8, 1948 at St. Peter's church. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2004.

Marian worked for several years at Hardware Mutual, but spent most of her working career as a waitress at Blue Top restaurant, which was a job that suited her outgoing and talkative personality.

She loved her family, especially her grandsons. She loved to cook and bake which was most evident through her insistence to feed all. Her most frequent greeting was "are you hungry?".

While still physically able, she enjoyed going to the casino with her husband Jack. When she was no longer able to do so, she looked forward to someone bringing her scratch off tickets. She was always positive the next one would be a big winner.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, listening to "her" Willie Nelson, and writing poetry.

Survivors include her daughter Jacki (John) Pupols; grandsons Chris (Kamie) Pupols, Eric Pupols, Jake (Melissa) Kelly, Tom Kelly; son in law Pat Kelly; sisters Delores, Lee, and Bernice. She is also survived by her canine buddy "Stevie".

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; daughter Lynn Kelly; son Matthew Walczak; grandson Nick Pupols; sisters Jean, Evelyn, Florence, and brother Ernie.

The family would like to thank Laurie Kostka N.P. from Ministry Medical for years of home bound care. Special appreciation goes out to Cheryl Meltzer of Stevens Point Acupuncture, for keeping Marian physically able to stay at home. Additionally, the family would like to thank Marian's neighbors for looking in on her and visiting; Mickey and Ray, and Ernie and Sandy.

As per Marian's wishes there will be no funeral service. A family gathering to celebrate Marian's life will be held at a later date.

The family is being assisted by Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society - Higgin's Funeral Home.
