Mary Jensen Obituary

Jensen, Mary

When Mary Jensen wasn't watching her children's and husband's basketball games or helping young kids break out of their shells as a speech-language pathologist at the Waupaca Learning Center, she was traveling to the family cabin up North or to National Parks out West.

Sadly, on July 24, 2015, Mary unexpectedly had an aneurysm and passed away while in Minneapolis for her daughter's basketball tournament.

She was dedicated to her children, as seen when she'd take off of work to chaperone their field trips and the years spend as a Girl Scout troop leader. She was a patient woman, as seen in the many, many summers it took her to complete a complicated cross-stitch. But most importantly, she was extremely loving, which was felt through her tight hugs.

Mary will live on through her husband Gregg Jensen and children Molly, Marcus, and Geena; her parents, Dave and Betty Helbach; her siblings Mark (Morna) Helbach, Lisa (David) Waldoch, and Heidi (Chas) Pronschinske; her in-laws Muggs Jensen, Brian (Julie) Jensen and Scott (Robin) Jensen; her nieces and nephews Lyn Helbach, Kelly, Frankie and Connor Helbach, Hans and Ian Waldoch, Nathan, Adam, and Chance Pronschinske, and Megan Jensen; as well as many cousins and other relatives that are hard to keep track of.

She has gone to see her brother David Helbach and her husband's dad, Don Jensen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 am at St. James Catholic Church (453 S Main St., Amherst). Father Dan Hackel will officiate. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 4-8 pm at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home (262 S. Main St., Amherst). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary's name.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mary 3 years ago at a skincare party. She was one of those women that you meet, you never forget. Mary was so kind and happy. It was always lovely to talk to her and it seemed I ran into her around Amherst often. It is something to be said that she was one of those people that always had a smile on her face and was always a pleasure to see. I can only imagine the wonderful wife, mother, and friend she was to everyone. God be with you all.

Fantastic memories of Mary as a Brigade leader at Camp Onaway in Waupaca. So many laughs, using Mary's saying "What's her bucket?" for people's names she couldn't recall. Girls Camp One leaders will remember Mary's dedication to kids at camp many years ago and continuing throughout her life.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with the Jensen and Helbach family at such an unexpected loss of someone so special! Growing up in Amherst and many times hanging with Heidi at the Helbach house brings back wonderful memories of the whole Helbach family. It seems like just yesterday we were all at Lyn's wedding and had an opportunity to catch up a bit! May the strength of all the wonderful memories and love of your family help you through this difficult time.

As one of the many cousins of Mary, she was also a dear friend. Although it has been way too many years since we had seen her and her family, it seems like yesterday we were belly laughing about something. We loved her like a sister. Heaven definitely does have another angel. All of our prayers and love to the Helbach and Jensen families. Berdi (Suski) & Keith Schroeder
