Rita Coombs Obituary

Coombs, Rita E.

Though we mourn the death of a precious loved one, a dear grandmother, sister, aunt, and most spectacularly, a mother, we rejoice in the memory of her life, full of determination, caring, and love.

On October 30, 2017, Rita died peacefully, surrounded by her close family. Rita E. Coombs (Kostuch) was born November 17, 1932 in Rosholt, Wisconsin. She enjoyed being a beautician and went on to retire from this occupation after more than 20 years at J.C. Penney. Most of all, Rita cherished being a homemaker and mother of six.

Rita is survived by six brothers and two sisters, her children, Debra Millen (Kerry), Jack Coombs (Lisa), Paul Coombs, Brenda Granlund (Chris), Craig Coombs (Julie), Mark Coombs (Shannon), and eleven amazing grandchildren.

Her passions were taking long walks, gardening, polka and other dancing, the theatre, volunteering and attending weekly mass. She led a very active lifestyle which often saw her at the senior center, farmer's market, local activities and always surrounded by many close friends. She was determined to live life to the fullest and was a beacon of hope to all those she encountered. She will always be remembered for her unmatched affection for her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Becker Ritter Funeral Home, Brookfield (14075 W. North Ave) on Friday, November 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 4th located at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Brookfield (1755 N. Calhoun Rd.) followed by burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Peace and comfort is now hers as she is walking and dancing with Jesus in heaven. We love you Rita and will never forget you!

Next door neighbor in Stevens Point Water St. Sympathy to the family. LeRoy Senoracki

November 2, 2017

Rita was my friend and neighbor for many years. I was sad when she chose to move to Brookfield and be near family but knew it was the right decision. Her love for family and life were admirable and strong. Rita was my mother's hair stylist and she was always patient and compassionate during Mom's dementia. I will remember our fun times, talks, laughter, tears, dancing and adventures. The obituary is beautifully written and truly reflects who she was. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family members. Hugs to Debra, Jack, Paul, Brenda, Craig and Mark. Sincerely, Jan Ronchetto (Post)

My condolences to Rita's family. She always spoke very highly of all of her children. She was a truly wonderful person. I loved being with her, going to lunch, church picnics. She liked teaching my children to dance. I worked with her at JC Penney for many years. She was a great mentor. I looked up to her. My children & husband loved being with her also. She will be greatly missed.
