Robert Gilman Obituary
Robert J. Gilman, age 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Monday, November 30, 2015 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Entombment in Forest Hill Mausoleum.
Robert was born June 13, 1926 in Whiting, WI to Harry and Anna (Walters) Gilman. He married Charlotte A. Heckel on September 4, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2011. Robert attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was employed in the maintenance department of Consolidated Papers Inc. for 38 years retiring in 1987. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from October 28, 1944 until August 6, 1946.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Sheila Vlack of River Falls, WI; two sons, Larry (Karen) Gilman of Stevens Point, WI and Steve (Linda) Gilman of Adams Friendship, WI; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Charlotte; brother, Donald Gilman and sister, Jean Gilman.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be designated to Aspirus Hospice.

I hold dear many fond memories of Bob & Char. Their kindness always made me feel welcome. Bob was an amazing man with a healthy dose of "can do" attitude. Know that I am thinking of your family today as you reflect on the good memories and happy times enjoyed together. I pray that you find peace and a special place within your heart for Bob to endure. Time to celebrate a good life.
