Steven Borski Obituary

Steven J. Borski

After living life to the fullest Steven James Borski, 43, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 9, with his family and friends by his side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Steven was born on March 28, 1969 to Ronald and Germaine Borski in Stevens Point, WI. He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Stockton where he developed his lifelong love of farming.

He was a 1987 graduate of Amherst High School. While there, Steven was a member and president of the Future Farmers of America, as well as a member of the football and wrestling teams. He was also an active member in the General Pipers 4-H Club.

While still in high school, he committed himself to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, entering boot camp on October 6, 1987. Steven spent the next four years of his life serving his country. He spent time in the Middle East during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged on October 5,1991 at the rank of E-5 Sergeant. Being an outstanding soldier he was promoted through the ranks quickly. During his military time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast and both the Expert Rifle and Expert Pistol Marksmanship Badges. He was an active member of the Central Wisconsin Marine Corps League #350 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Upon his return to central Wisconsin from the Marine Corps, Steven entered into a farming partnership with his father. He also began a 20-year employment at the Portage County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, snowplow driver and relief foreman.

On July 18, 2009 Steven married the love of his life Amber. Together they built a home for their family in the Town of Stockton. Steven and his entire family cherish the family farm life. Steven also enjoyed hunting, salmon fishing, attending NASCAR races and being the Worlds Best Dad. Years ago, Steve and his crew chief Dave Reit raced stock cars at Golden Sands and Marshfield Speedway.

Steven is survived by his loving wife Amber (Weronke); four daughters who were the light of his life: Shannon, Avery, Aubrey and Autumn; his parents Ronald and Germaine (Rzentkowski) Borski of Amherst; his brothers Brian (Dallas, TX) and Jason (Plover); sisters Lori (Plover) and Leigh Ann (Lee) Lehman (Amherst); nieces Olivia and Sydney Lehman; nephews Charlie Lehman, Cole and Aidan Weronke; grandmother Jean Borski (Stevens Point); Amber's parents William Jr. and Leann (Edseth) Weronke (Stevens Point); brother-in-law Shane (Tammy) Weronke (Rosholt) and sister-in law Leslie(Dave) McGowen (Atlanta, GA); best friend Dave Reit (Amherst) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by: two infant daughters Gracie and Danielle; Grandparents Robert Borski and Julius and Regina Rzentkowski.

The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 12 at 10:30 am at Saint Mary's of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Fancher. Visitation will be Friday, January 11 from 4-8 pm at the Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second St., Stevens Point with a Rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will also take place on Saturday, January 12 from 8:30-9:30 am at the Pisarski Funeral Home. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday morning and lead family and friends to the Funeral Mass, circling the family farm one last time for Steve.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established at a later date. Donations can be made at the Pisarski Funeral home. Steven will always be remembered for his loyalty and courage. He stood up for what he believed in and continually put others before himself. Steven will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Amber, & Mr. & Mrs. Borski:
I was sad to learn of Steve's passing. I met Steve here in Dallas when he and his siblings and buddies would come down for the NASCAR race at the Texas Motor Speedway. What I remember was that Steve was a man with great integrity, pride in his country, a fan of NASCAR, he had true love & a loyalty for all of his family & friends. Even though I have not seen him in several years I know he probably hasn't changed. His character was such that his word was his bond, and that is the honorable man Steve was!
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and during the days ahead of you. Remember those great memories of Steve and know that they will help you to heal of this great loss!

Life.....so fragile, Loss....so sudden, Heart....so broken,...in the wake of such a loss, we are haunted by things we don't, and may never understand. Yet the solace we seek may not come from answers. Look for comfort in the belief of God's everlasting connection with us. May that love lift you and give you peace.
