Wayne Wayerski Obituary

Wayerski, Wayne Raymond

Wayne Raymond Wayerski was born into eternal life at his home in Junction City, WI on May 7, 2016. Beloved husband, brother, uncle, nephew, step-father, and friend, his presence will be sadly missed, yet his memory will make us smile and be grateful to have loved such a man as he. Wayne succumbed to neuro endocrine cancer of the lung contracted by Agent Orange while serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 - 1971. It was his honor and privilege to serve the United States of America in the 18th Engineer Brigade. He was proud to have served his country to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Wayne's life ethic was simple; love your wife with all of your heart, family first, work hard, do everything with integrity, expect common sense, love your country, laugh often, get 'er done, and waste no time on slackers. He lived life selflessly and will long be remembered as a man with a robust joyous laugh and his storytelling talent for spinning yarns.

Growing up on the family farm with eight brothers and sisters was a life filled with hard work and many childhood antics as supported by the countless stories shared by his siblings. He was 14 years old when his mother passed away leaving a void filled by his sister Shirley who took over raising the children forming a close loving bond with her and brother Kenny as well as his other brother and sisters until his death.

Wayne was an extremely talented craftsman as evidenced by the beautiful home he built on his family farm. He could plan and execute projects without a blueprint. His love for nature prompted him to plant nearly 10,000 trees on his property, raise horses, and family pets. He was an avid bird watcher from a very early age and kept his bird guide and binoculars always on hand to identify them while eating at his bird feeders or swimming on his lake and pond. He was twice named as one of the Top Ten Farmers of the America.

He retired from Carpenter's Union 804, where he worked as a supervisor and project engineer on hospitals and clinics locally and throughout the United States.

In 2015 he finally met, and shortly thereafter married the love of his life Julia A. Link. She brought a happiness to his life he never thought was possible. He agreed that their love was only surmounted by God's love, as He was most certainly responsible for their meeting at this time in their lives.

Born at home to Raymond and Bernice (Kurzinski) on March 10, 1951, he often joked he had two birthdays as his birth was officially recorded as May 11, 1951, when he was brought to the hospital the next day.

Wayne is survived by his wife Julia Wayerski, sisters Shirley (Ron) Hertel, Tina (Ernie) Feltz, Janis Klismith, and Diane Feltz, brothers Ken (Cindy) Wayerski, Dale (Angie) Wayerski, sisters-in-law Jayne (Dennis Groves) Link, Cynthia (Thomas) Engdahl, brother-in-law Scott A. Link, step children Christopher Totten, Brad Totten, Shane Totten, Adam Rawson, Mark Rawson, and Elizabeth Link

Preceding him in death are parents Raymond & Bernice Wayerski, sister Bonnie Lila, and first wife Carolyn Wayerski, brother in law and Vietnam comrade in arms Myron Feltz.

Very special thanks to Christopher Totten for his warm love and devotion to Wayne throughout his life. He was always there for Wayne through thick and thin giving him a hand with whatever project or chore that needed to be done, sharing his hunting, fishing, and work stories, and being an all-around great guy whom Wayne loved with a passion.

The family would like to thank special friends Chuck Hertel, Gary Engebretson, Jim Vitort, and Uncle Sylvester & Aunt Sharon Kurzinski for being such very good friends, neighbors, relation as well as Mike & Betsy Tushkowski who made certain Wayne was taken care of when Julia went to Green Bay due to her mother's death.

Many thanks and gratitude are extended for the care given to Wayne by Dr. Moid and the staff at the Marshfield Cancer Center in Stevens Point. May they all live to remember Wayne's jokes and bouts of uncontained laughter.

Much appreciation goes to Ministry Home Care Hospice Services for their compassion and expedient action given to both Wayne and Julia throughout Wayne's brief care.

The Link Family would like thank sister Shirley for the love and support she showed to our sister Julia from the beginning and especially through this difficult time. God Bless Shirley.

According to Wayne's wishes, there are to be no funeral services. However, a memorial celebration of his life for close friends and family members will be held at a future date and location, which has yet to be determined.

Thanks are also extended to Funeral Director Sue from John J. Buettgens Funeral Home who guided Julia through the process of making necessary arrangements and treating Wayne with the utmost dignity.

I just read online the Stevens point journal and saw Wayne's obituary. His father Ray was my mothers first cousin. My grandparents were Wayne's godparents. We had so much fun when we were kids and traveled to the farm and then to Ray and Bernieces farm- such great memories. Being a city girl Wayne was going to teach me to drive the tractor. When I popped the clutch he said that's enough., than on to butchering a chicken -not a good idea. All of us kids would play outside until late at night. So many good memories. My brother and I were just talking about Wayne on May 5th. We must have felt his spirit. Please accept our condolences and know he was loved by John and Marie Wayerski's grandchildren.
