Alice Richter Obituary

Alice L. Richter, age 90, of Stevens Point, peacefully passed away on September 6, 2022, at Dimensions
Living in Stevens Point.
Alice was born on August 20, 1932, to the late Andrew and Stacia (Bronk) Kluck in the Town of Sharon,
Portage County, WI.  She attended the nearby one-room Madison Elementary School and graduated
from St. Joseph's Academy in Stevens Point, WI, in 1951.
She married William A. Richter on January 26, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia, WI. He
preceded her in death on August 30, 1995.
After high school, Alice worked as an office assistant for Drs. Dunn & Anderson in Steven Point.  She also
worked several years for St. Michael's Hospital and the Stevens Point Chamber of Commerce.
Along with raising three children, Alice kept the financial books for her husband's business, William A.
Richter Masonry. She often kept him company on late evening concrete curing missions and weekend
out of town projects.
Alice's most rewarding employment was with the Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools where she was
the Bookkeeper/Business Manager for 23 years, retiring in 1997.  She thoroughly enjoyed working with
the SPACC's Christian Brothers administrators, teachers, local clergy and students during that time.
After retirement, Alice enjoyed reading, knitting, walking and watching Packers games.  She and her
husband, Bill, also enjoyed several motorcoach tours traveling around the Midwest.
She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Parish (St. Stanislaus Catholic Church) devoting many
mornings to daily mass. She volunteered her time as a member of the Rosary Society, Eucharist Minister
to Homebound, and Eucharist Minister and Reader at the Portage County Health Care Center/River
Pines.  Alice also served 20 plus years as a Hospice Portage County, Interfaith and First Home volunteer.
She is survived by her son, Randolph (Marcia) Richter; daughters, Christine Richter and Cynthia Richter-
Groshek (Calvin); grandchildren, Joseph (Amy) Richter, Bethany Butzen (Matthew) and Alexandra Richter
(fiancé Dan Case) and 5 great-grandchildren Evelyn, Monroe and Henry Richter and Gavin and Olivia
Butzen. She is further survived by brothers, Rufin Kluck and Mark (Cindy) Kluck; brother-in-law, David
Shafranski and sisters-in-law, Leann and Marie Kluck along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Stacia; husband, William; her siblings Lorraine
(Leonard) Glodowski, Jerry (Janet) Kluck, Gladys Shafranski, Ronald (Betty) Kluck, Myron Kluck and
Robert Kluck.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Holy Spirit Parish (formerly
St. Stanislaus) in Stevens Point, WI. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00
a.m. until the time of Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools and Holy Spirit Parish.

I knew Alice as a fellow parishioner of St. Stanislaus/Holy Spirit but her lasting impression on me was when she worked for the Stevens Point Catholic Schools.

When I registered my daughter to attend Pacelli High, I received the mandatory tuition payment schedule requiring half of the cost at the first of the school year with 2 final payments within the first few months. I visited the office and spoke to Alice letting her know that as a single mom, I could not meet the three payment schedule, however, I could make smaller monthly payments throughout the term of the school year.

Alice smiled and said, "okay, let´s do it"! Every month thereafter for 4 high school years, when I entered the office to make a payment, Alice would greet me with, "how is your daughter doing in school?" Asking me about her favorite subjects, sports, and events; never opening the payment envelope nor asking me when I would be back to make the next payment.

Alice was soft-spoken, upbeat, had an infectious smile, a kind heart and a person I will never forget.
