Donald Steven "STEVE" Pederson

1953 - 2025

Steve, 71, of Columbus, Montana, peacefully passed away on April 24 at his beloved ranch, surrounded by family. Born on June 23, 1953 in Billings, MT, to Don and Merle Pederson, Steve grew up involved in 4H and developed a love for horses. He attended Columbus School and graduated from Absarokee High School in 1971. Throughout the years he worked on a dude ranch, did construction, hauled cattle (acquired many trucking stories), and mostly enjoyed farming and ranching his land on upper Whitebird Creek Rd. Steve loved sharing a cup of coffee or Coors Light with many friends and neighbors. In 2005, Steve married Sheila, his summer sweetheart from his early 20's. This marriage gained him 2 daughters, and over the years was blessed with 6 grandkids. Steve enjoyed giving 4-wheeler rides and watching the grandkids run wild around the ranch. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Merle Pederson. Survived by his beloved wife Sheila, sister Karen (Jerry) Krug, brother Mark (Sue) Pederson, step daughters Margeaux (Chris) Guerin, Shae (Jesse) LaFuze, grandkids Chloe, Luke, Finley, Ford, Everly, Fischer, nephew Paul, nieces Carrie and Katie, and a son, Shelton. Steve's celebration of life will be held May 18 at Whitebird Community Center in Columbus, MT at 12pm. Memorials can be made to the Whitebird Community Center or a Leukemia Society.
