Eldon Blaylock Obituary

Eldon Scott Blaylock passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024 at age 79 in his home surrounded by his wife, daughters and son.

Scott was born on November 7, 1945 in Billings, MT to Lorraine Reseck and Knox Blaylock. He went to grade school in Billings and Laurel and in the fifth grade he started school in Columbus. In high school, Scott played football, basketball and ran track. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1964 and in the summer of '64 he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a machinist mate and worked in the boiler room. He returned to Columbus after the Navy.

In 1969 he married Penny Mosness Blaylock. He worked at Timberweld Manufacturing as a gluer until 1975 and then got a job with Montana Dakota Utilities in Billings. In 1978, he transferred with MDU to Wolf Point, Montana where he worked as an assistant gas engineer. In 1983, he and his wife Penny decided to purchase a drive-in restaurant in Columbus, Montana bringing them back home. He and his wife ran and operated the Stillwater Sandwich Company from 1983 to 1998.

After settling in Columbus, Scott volunteered to coach Babe Ruth baseball which he absolutely loved and when Matt became old enough, he volunteered to coach his teams from T-ball and beyond. He truly loved sharing his passion for baseball with others.

After selling the Stillwater Sandwich Company in 1998, Scott took on a job at TSA as a security screener until he retired.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, brother Buddy and sister Donna. He leaves behind his wife, Penny of 55 years and his little buddy Zeke (our dog) Daughters, Kari Blaylock of Columbus, Melissa Chounet (Frank) of Huntington Beach, California, and son Matthew Blaylock (Laurella) and granddaughter Rose of Falls City, Oregon. He adored his granddaughter and was so happy when she came into this world. Sister KnoxAnn Armijo, brothers Sam (Cindy) Blaylock, Wayne Blaylock, Randy Durr, and sister-in-law Kara Blaylock as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Scott loved anything sports especially the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks and the University of Montana Grizzlies. He liked putting jigsaw puzzles together, even though it might've taken a year or two to get it all done. He liked fishing and hunting but his greatest passion was raising and hunting with hounds or really owning dogs in general.

The family would like to thank Stillwater Hospice and Stenberg Funeral Home for the wonderful support. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

This is my brother. I am his big sister KnoxAnn. I am going to miss our conversations and our memories. I am without words to adequately express my grief at the loss of my brother Scotty. He was a forgiving man and he loved his family and took care of them all. He was loved and he will be greatly missed. I will miss him all the days of my life.
