START, LA - Funeral services for James Larry Dupree, age 81 of Start, Louisiana will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 200 East Noble Street in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Todd Barfield and Lexi Dupree will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Visitation will be held from 11AM until time of service on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Cox Funeral Home, 200 East Noble Street in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
James Larry Dupree, 81, of Start, LA, peacefully passed away Sept 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Port Authur, TX, to James Audrey Dupree and Juanita (Scott) Dupree. On Nov. 2, 1962, James Larry married the love of his life, Linda Dupree. Together they had three children: David, Cindy, and Joey.
James Larry was a hard worker, avid joke-teller, and man of many hobbies who took the time to help numerous people, even when he didn't have the time. He farmed soybeans, cotton, and crawfish for most of his life before he retired in Start. He enjoyed his last several years surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (whom he loved to nap with in his recliner).
James Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Skipper Dupree of Start, LA, and his son David Dupree (Julie) of Rayville, LA; his daughter, Cindy Barfield (Todd) of Rayville, LA; and his son, Joey Dupree (Christie) of Start, LA. He was also a proud grandfather to Paul Dupree (Crystal), Justin Barfield, Lexi Dupree, Ryan Dupree, Kristen Vanderhoff (Wesley), Emily Stowe (Cameron), Jeffrey Colvin, Hannah Colvin, Gracie Jiles (Matt), and Jamie Dupree. He was also a great-grandfather to Sophie, Lilah, Georgia, Josie, Vivi, Annabelle, Waverly, and Samuel.
James Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Dupree and James Dupree, and his siblings, Rodger and LaDonna.
Friends and family are invited to Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove at 11 AM Friday, Sept. 26, for visitation. Funeral will follow at 2 PM.
