I was a student nurse at Alexian Brothers Hospital from 1989-1992 and then an RN he wanted me to become his private scrub nurse upon graduation. He would only let Ralph and I assist him in procedures he taught us sterile technique. He was the most awesome physician I have ever worked with. Thank you Dr Ruehl for everything!!!!1

I worked with Dr. Ruehl for many years at Alexian Brothers. He was a very giving, caring person. He was one of the most brilliant people I ever met. I used to tease him because he would never do his billing or dictation so I don't know how he ever got his homework completed to become a doctor. He cared more about patient care than all that other stuff. I remembered today was his birthday. I wish I could have seen him again just to let him know what a wonderful person he was. He was very good to me and my husband and the world lost a great physician and person. Our condolences to his friends and family. There is no illness in heaven, I'm sure he's there.

Dr Ruehl was a very tender and caring doctor. He performed 2 surgeries on me, once when I was 5 and then again when I was 10. He also reconstructed my mothers nose when she was involved in an auto accident. When I became an adult and I needed ENT services I searched high and low to find him, only to find out that he had retired. I will be eternally grateful to the Doc and thank him for taking such good care of my family. Yours Truly,

We shared some fun times in the ER at Jewish Hosp when Al was a resident, 40 years ago. A great and talented Dr. even right out of med school. RIP Albert.

I will always remember office hours wth Dr.Ruehl.. Every Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesdays we would see as many as 60 patients in a day, and Fridays we worked in the evening as he operated all day on fridays. There were many Friday nights that we worked until close to midnight.(that's just how good he was,the people would wait for him).
We always had the Sony Boom box on the country station. I actually have that same Sony that he gave me years ago. It was replaced with a CD player and we could then listen to George and Tammy through out the day. Tammy Wynette was his favorite.
Dr.Ruehl was always very generous.. he would give me the keys to his car and i would go to pick up lunch that he would buy for all of us.
He told me once "kc I'm giiving you a liscense to lie." That was because i screened a lot of his phone calls and the ladies that would try to get back to see him. I had to protect him.
I better save room for some other memories here. That was all in a days work with Dr. Ruehl I do have many good memories. We worked together for 10 years. That's a lot of good memories.
