I recently learned of the passing of a friend and colleague. We met at St. Louis University. As superintendent of Windsor Schools, he hired my wife to teach at
Windsor Junior High School. As superintendent of Bayless School, he hired me to serve as principal of Bayless High School. He was a class act who directed the board of education effectively. He also directed and supported teachers and principals effectively and praised them appropriately, and often. Additionally, we all enjoyed his wry sense of humor. Peace to your family.

Rest in peace, Al.

My condolences go to the Ellis family. May he rest in peace. Dr. Ellis was the Bayless superintendent, in my last years as a teacher in the Bayless district. He was a very good superintendent; he was good for Bayless. I enjoyed working with him. I will always remember his educational skills and his good sense of humor. I retired in '94, just one year before he retired.

Dear Ellis family, Dr. Ellis was assistant and superintendent at Windsor while I taught there as the HS choral music teacher. (Laura Ellington Vaughan) Dr. Ellis was a delight to work for, and her was such a great influence in the district. I valued his insight and professional demeanor in all things. Sending prayers of comfort for the whole family. Sincerely, Laura Vaughan
