Cain, Allie Barnes was born on January 21, 1929 in Middletown, Ohio. He was the third oldest of six children, born to the late Willie Cain of Wetumpka, Alabama and Marie Barnes, of Temple, Georgia. Allie was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, enlisting at the young age of 17 to care for his younger siblings following the death of their parents. He was also a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving a combined total of over 6 years. Allie was a staunch advocate for higher learning and used the GI Bill to fund his education. He earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree from his beloved Central State University in 1957, and proudly supported his alma mater throughout his life. Allie was a Computer Programmer Analyst in Management with the Federal Government, Department of Defense, until his retirement in 1986. He immensely enjoyed substitute teaching during the early years of his retirement. Allie was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals, win or lose. He was proud of his hometown in Ohio, always visiting home even though he spent the majority of his years in North St. Louis County, where he settled down and raised his family. Allie, always iron-willed, fought a debilitating illness, long and hard, for more than thirteen years, until the morning of January 18, 2015. Both parents, one older brother, Willis, and one older sister, Gladys, preceded him in death. Allie is survived, and will lovingly be remembered, by his children Allison Cain-Duce (James) and Anthony (Clarette), and their mother Patricia; his four grandchildren, Jordyn, Jameson, Alissa, and Aimee; his sister Geraldine Jefferson, brothers Floyd (Hazel) and Wilford (Gloria); five nieces, seven nephews, and many grand-nieces, and grandnephews, numerous cousins, and close friends, who were more like family. Special thanks to the staff at Arden Courts of Louisville who provided excellent care and companionship for his final years. Services: A small Homegoing Graveside Service will occur in the spring, on March 21, 2015, at the Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum in Middletown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Central State University, in Wilberforce, Ohio.
