Pohl, Andrew Andy Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Friday March 5, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Jeannette M. Pohl (nee Pacini); dear father of Janet M. Pohl; loving grandfather of Thomas A. (Julie) and Timothy J. (Margaret) Graham; loving great-grandfather of Victoria, Daniel, Caroline, Jenna and Collin Graham; dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle and friend. Andy was a co-owner and operator of Jimmy & Andy's Tavern, a member of Rollo- Calcaterra American Legion Post #15 for 53 years and enjoyed gardening and athletics. Services: Funeral Tues. 12:30 pm from BOPP CHAPEL, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood to Ste. Genevieve du Bois Catholic Church for 1:00 pm Mass. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Am. Heart Association or RolloCalcaterra Am. Legion Post #15. Visitation Mon. 4-8:00 pm.

In Sept of 2018 , the Billiken Hockey team had a reunion , and about 50 players returned to St. Louus to celebrate.
Andys name was brought up countless times and reminiscing about him brought smiles & laughter . Wish he could have been with us

In late August of 1969, I met Andy Pohl. It was changing of the guard at 10 North Newstead. Andy was going off duty and Jimmy was coming on. I was introduced to Andy by Frank Hauff, an old Bomber rugger who had known him from his baseball days. Andy bought a round. Yes, he bought a round.
It was a "picture beer" that started our friendship. It was a privilege to know such a fine gentleman for all those years. Don't misunderstand me, Andy was no angel, but for every one-half inch he cut off Frisco's cane over a two week period, or for every time he swapped something out of a bag someone left in the cooler, he balanced it with generosity, kindness, care, and affection.
He and Jimmy took care of their own. From Johnny and Dolly to ADG's, Hockey Billikens,and Phi Kaps, from Ms. Busch and Otto, to Frankie, Shorty, and Bruno. All of the gang were treated to Uncle Andy's unique humor and his unique and genuine respect.
Andy came to our bonecrusher football games, he played catcher with the Puckies softball team, and showed up many of us, half his age. He made a few of my rugby games over the years, and was particularly skilled at pointing out what parts of my game needed improvment. He was adept in the same way with my life, and in both cases he was usually right.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
The world is a little emptier now, and St. Peter's staff is slowly getting shorter and shorter.

Andy taught all of the guys in his grandson Tim's gradeschool class to play baseball and have fun while winning or losing.

He was a character I'll never forget and b/c of his involvement in my sports as a kid I now coach as an adult and hope that my players have the fun we did with Tim's Grandpa

I have a lot of fond memories of J&A's bar from Mario Faubert standing on a table singing "allouette" and all the hockey players, girlfriends, wives and friends singing along. I think that how Andy learned to speak French Canadian!

When I brought my good friend Ceasar Maniago to J&As and Andy was so thrilled to meet Ceasar that Andy bought the beer.

Andy was a wonderful friend to all that came to J&A'S and Andy enjoyed those Hockey Billiken parties after a win.

We will all truely miss Andy but he is now with Our Lord in Heaven showing Him how to pour a bud into a glass with just the right amount of foam at the top of the glass.

Our deepest sympathy to Andy's family and friends.

The friendship and brotherhood extended to us hockey Billikens from Andy at his beloved J and A's establishment in the 70's was then and to this day is unequaled.
Where else at 7am could a transplanted prairie boy cash a 3rd party cheque enabling a hockey player to return home for his Dad's funeral...Thank you for the great memories Andy, your kindness and knowledge was appreciated and did not go unnoticed..... regards and condolances. Les Gould Billiken

I have nothing but great memories about Andy. While I was playing hockey for the Billikens, Andy was always there for me and my teammates. If he saw me going the wrong way, he would try to right it. I loved going to Jimmy and Andy's on Sunday mornings when they would spit shine the bar. It was great to be alone with him and hear all the interesting stories he would tell about his family and his life. I can only imagine what a wealth of memories you all have of him and will cherish forever. I'm proud to say that Andy was a friend of mine.

MY NAME IS RICK KENNEDY AND I PLAYED HOCKEY AT SLU IN THE EARLY SEVENTIES.

ANDY PROVIDED ALL THE HOCKEY GUYS A " HOME , AWAY FROM HOME " HE PROVIDED PATERNAL COMPANIONSHIP, FRIENDSHIP , HUMOR AND IN A WAY ONLY ANDY COULD ...LOVE, TO ALL THE GUYS , WHO WERE SO FAR FROM HOME. I HAVE SO MANY TERRIFIC MEMORIES OF ANDY & OUR TIMES AT 10 NORTH NEWSTEAD , THAT IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO COME UP WITH THE BEST .

ANDY WAS AWESOME, I WILL ALWAYS THINK OF HIM IN THE MOST LOVING WAY AND HOW WELL HE TREATED ME & MY FRIENDS.
