Anne Stupp Obituary

Anne Stupp, beloved designer, philanthropist, and community advocate, passed away on October 3rd in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Edna Freeman; her husband,. Robert Stupp; and her sister, Jeanne Echterhoff.

Known for her generous spirit, Anne C. Stupp was a gifted designer, philanthropist, and advocate for the arts whose life reflected a deep belief in the power of beauty, compassion, and community to transform lives. Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, she earned her bachelor's degree in History from the University of Nebraska before pursuing a successful career in design. She served as Director of Roche Bobois in Scottsdale and Vice President of Design for Anozira Development, later founding Casa Bella Interiors. Her work - featured in Better Homes & Gardens and Phoenix Home & Garden - blended creativity and comfort in both the Phoenix and St. Louis areas.

Over more than two decades, Anne dedicated herself to nonprofit service, supporting organizations devoted to health, education, and the arts. She served on numerous boards, including Tower Grove Park, the Missouri Historical Society, Ranken Jordan Children's Center, and the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis. Her leadership and fundraising efforts raised millions of dollars for programs that strengthened communities and improved lives.

In Arizona, Anne's generosity extended to the Valleywise Health Foundation, where her personal health journey in 2018 inspired her passionate advocacy for patient care and for Halle Arizona Burn Center. She also served with distinction as a Trustee of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, advancing the preservation of Wright's legacy and the mission of organic architecture.

Anne also served on the board of Ability 360, promoting programs that empower people with disabilities to achieve independent lifestyles.

She is survived by her brother John Freeman and sister-in-law Royce Freeman of Scottsdale; her nephew Justin Freeman of California; her niece Nicole VanGalder and husband Matt VanGalder of Phoenix; and her nieces Christine Darby and Melissa Hamilton of Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valleywise Health Foundation at https://valleywisehealthfoundation.org/donate/.
