Bertha Kloepfer Obituary

Bertha Angeline Kandlbinder Kloepfer was born to Bertha Fleischmann and Anton Kandlbinder on March 14, 1932, in Milwaukee, WI. Celebration of Life, St. Ann Catholic Church, 7530 Natural Bridge Rd. Normandy, MO. 63121. June 1, 2024. 10 AM. She has one sister, Anna Theresa K. Bowerman (Robert).

Angie passed away peacefully in her beloved Ft. Lauderdale, FL home on the Tarpon River, on May 1, 2024, surrounded by family, her birds, bunny, and other wildlife that came to visit with her every day.

Angie first met William Paul (Bill) Kloepfer in her teens, in the middle of Oswego Lake in Boulder Junction Wisconsin and the rest is history. Angie graduated from Arbor Vita Woodruff High School and after graduating from Normandy High School, Bill joined the Marines. They married on January 27, 1951. Together they raised 8 free range children: Terry (James B. Gannon III), Billy Kloepfer (Lori) (Irene), Cheryl (Mark Beckmann), Chris Kloepfer (Sabrina), Karl Kloepfer, Tony Kloepfer (Sandra), Michele (David Graham), John Kloepfer (Melissa). They have 32 Grandchildren, 72 Great-grandchildren, and 19 Great-great-grandchildren.

After child #7 Michele was born, Bill and Angie moved their growing family from a tiny 3-bedroom house in St. Louis County to Normandy, Bill's hometown. In 1965 they put a pool in their back yard and soon all the children in the neighborhood became family.

In the early 1970's Angie and many of her friends at St. Ann's Parish in Normandy became "Pilgrims of Emmaus". These amazing women brought the fire of the Holy Spirit to the community and started services and programs, many of which still exist today in one form or another. Angie was often recognized and received awards for her many volunteer contributions:

·Normandy Area Meals on Wheels

·Golden Vikings

· The Normandy Area Residential Service (NARS) promoted fair housing for all.

·Health Screenings for Seniors

· Planned and organized the first two Fete de Normandies.

· Founding member of the Normandy Area Historical Association.

· She was the "Voice of the Vikings" as she cheered her children on at sporting events.

· Past President of the St. Ann's Women's Club

· Past President and active member of many Normandy School District PTOs.

She was acknowledged for her work with:

·Mid-East Area Agency on Aging

·Normandy School District

·Normandy Municipal Council

· St. Louis University's Dept. of Community Medicine

·University of Missouri St. Louis Dept. of Social Work

·Missouri University Extension Division

· Church Women United

In 1977 Bill, Angie, and their two youngest children moved to Florida where Angie became active with her new Parishes, Our LadyQueen of Martyrs and St. Anthony, but in different ways. She became:

· Chief Cook and dishwasher for many of the Church events, rising at 4 am to start cooking the food.

· Funnel Cake Lady at the Church Festivals

· She joined the choir and was an often-requested Funeral Singer

· She continued to be a member of Church Women United

· The Cancer SupportGroup

· Women's Guild

· And of course, the Bread Lady and Dancing Queen.
