Passed away at her home at the age of 100. Beloved wife for 59 years to the late Gerald Honey, devoted mother to Carolie (Mike) Owens, Jerry (Linda) Honey, the late Jon (Beverley) Honey, Jay (Tammy) Honey; grandmother of Jason (Kelly), Ben (Stephanie), Erica (Ryan), Jeremy, Carolie (Doug), Jarrod (Madeleine), Justin (Lexie), Jacob (Jessie), Grace, and Rachael (Jon).
Betty was one of six children born to Walter and Nelle Foster. She graduated from Weaubleau HS in 1942, Southwest Baptist College in 1943, and began teaching a few days later at the age of 18. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State in 1951 alongside her brothers, Bob and Charles, and her husband, Gerald.
Notable events in her life include teaching for 32 years, with most of her career at Benton School in St. Charles, where she was teacher of the year and proudly taught in one of the first integrated classrooms in America. Betty and Gerald were charter members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for decades. Her grandson, Jason, said it best - "She knew how to make everyone feel special."
Visitation is at 10:00am on September 6 at Baue on Jefferson Street in St. Charles, with the service to follow at 11:30am.
