Bettye was a gracious, beautiful, and special Lady and I will never forget her or her family. She hired my mother as a leasing agent at our apartment complex in Indianapolis and in a short time we all came to love and admire this petite, lovely woman. She even planned my wedding and volunteered her son Robbie to be my ring bearer (sorry Rob). I am so happy to have so many great pictures of Bettye and even greater memories of her kindness, gentleness, and true southern charm. I've missed her over the years but I'm so glad I had her in at least a small part of my life. Rob & Keith you are in my thoughts and prayers - thank you for the loving memorial pictures, it helped to see she kept that sweet smile throughout her life -- Linda Scott Hunter

Bettye was a shining example of a true, southern lady and a "Miss Arkansas State Sweetheart" to the end. I always enjoyed visits with her and hearing her highly descriptive accounts of what she, friends, and family have been up to (down to the last detail!).
I wont forget our lunch at Panera just a month, or so ago, where she sat across the table from me appearing as the most beautiful and engaging "dying" woman I have ever had the pleasure of sharing a lunch with. It just didn't seem possible, and I am sorry to say, she just didn't play the "part" well: beautifully dressed (as usual), make-up (perfection), and a zest for life, food, and conversation. Part of her way, hospitable, conversational and making everyone around her always feel comfortable.
I could go on and on about her, and the way she made my daughters, husband, and I always feel a part of your family. We love and will miss her.

From (my favorite) church hymn "How Great Thou Art":

And when at last the mists of time have vanished
And I in truth my faith confirmed shall see,
Upon the shores where earthly ills are banished
I'll enter Lord, to dwell in peace with thee.

May her beautiful soul rest in His eternal peace.

Love and prayers to all,

Jason, Lori, Emily, Raeann, & Charlotte Alford

I worked with Bettye in the early 80s at Brandy Station Apartments. She was cultured but funny. I've always remembered Bettye telling me one day that she had made her pre-need funeral arrangements because her husband, "...might lay be out in grey and I don't look good in grey."
