Carol Barrington Obituary

Barrington, Carol Deane (nee Vickroy), passed away into the presence of our Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014; Beloved wife of Jay Barrington for 41 years; loving mother of Mark Andrew (Jammie) Barrington, Kyle Vickroy (Jessica) Barrington and the late Andrew Lee Barrington; dear grandmother of Anabelle, Patrick and Lucy Barrington; dear daughter of Mary Deane Johanning and the late John S. Vickroy Sr.; dear sister of John (Therese) Vickroy Jr. and Stephen (Debbie) Vickroy; dear aunt of Ian, Taylor, Sam and Diane Vickroy; Carol cherished her cousins (especially Leanne Gallison) and her many, many friends. Carol epitomized a life of love and devotion to Jesus Christ, her husband and family. God used her in amazing ways to minister not just to her family but many others in Christian Ministries. Carol's sense of humor, gifts of wisdom and encouragement blessed everyone who knew her. Her radiant smile and personality brightened every room she entered. Carol was the greatest wife and mother one could imagine. She was self-less, but firm, competitive, but gracious. Our lives are all more rich and fulfilled because of her. Carol was a lover of animals, especially her dog Maddie and her horse Gucci. She relished the quest of improving herself in all skills, regardless of the challenge. Most of all, Carol's love and compassion for others was fueled by her love of Christ. Countless lives will celebrate hers. Services: Visitation from 4-8pm on Wed., Dec. 10, at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., in Kirkwood, MO. Memorial Service 10:30am Thurs., Dec. 11, at Central Presbyterian Church, 7700 Davis Rd., Clayton, MO 63105. Interment Private. If desired, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church. www.boppchapel.com

Dearest Jay, Mark and Kyle - I will be forever grateful to God for allowing me to call her friend. Carol was one of those people I could belly laugh with and we shared really funny adventures together in the midst of our deep friendship. Will never forget the party you and Carol threw for Jack and me before we were married - just to check him out and make sure I wasn't going over a cliff I imagine. Eleven years later, we look back on that event with such joy and gratitude. Stew Geisz was a baby in arms then. What a memory for us. I just turned 70 a week or so ago and am very aware that I am on the side of the mountain that puts me closer to being with my Jesus, my Mom, and my special girlfriend. That makes me smile big time! Would have loved to have been with you today at Central. But I am right there with you in my heart. So is Jack.

To my dear, dear friend, Jay, and to the much loved sons of Carol and Jay and to their much loved wives and to their precious children: Carol and Jay's grandchildren,
Carol and Jay know that I am never short of words, but now all I can write to you is that Carol was an angel every day she was on the Lord's earth. Carol was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and although distance kept us from being in the company of one another very often, a loving friend to me.
Carol remains an angel, only now she is forever with The Lord.
My love goes out to each one of you and you will be, as you have been, in my daily prayers.
Andy

Carol ministered to me In so many ways. After being in countless Bible studies for many years, the few under her leadership are the ones that taught me the most about the grace and awesome majesty of God. Christ used her has an instrument to teach me in Ways that I will always have and never forget. She is praising God right now with my beloved dad who also just went to be with Him. What a gift she was to me. Melissa Fiala

I first saw Carol when Jay brought her home to Kansas City. Living next door to Jay since the age of 4 we have been friends forever. Carol & Jay, even in their 20's, it was clear they belonged together. My heart breaks for your loss Jay along with the rest of the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Our Lord must have something that needed Carol or saved her from an unknown here on earth. She will be the brightest shining star!
