Charles Horwitz Obituary

Horwitz, Charles Richard

January 7, 1938 - June 8, 2025

This is a supplement to my June 22, 2025 obituary because I forgot certain information due to my fall on June 4, 2025.

Regarding our family's generational accomplishments in tennis constituting a foursome that appears unrivaled in the history of tennis, our tapestry is even richer because my younger brother Bill also competed at the Zoo thereby making us a quintet. See June 22, 2025 obit.

Again, my son Joe passed before me, but I did not participate in his Post-Dispatch obituary. Talk about weapons in tennis. Joe's forehand was a point-ending powerhouse. It was arguably the best in the world for his age when he competed. Justina and I were in no way responsible for it. Further, Justina and I were also in no way responsible for the accomplishments of either Joe or Lou. Tennis is simply not a sport a) where playing favorites or preferential treatment is the status quo or b) subject to the politics and subjective whims of a judge or a panel of judges for determining a winner or runner-up etc.

I hope Lou continues the tradition of tennis excellence I started.
