Memories and Condolences
for Charles Kuehl

Not sure what to say?

When I was a Senior in high school I got to visit my good friend Jennifer Kuehl in London. Dr. Kuehl, her Dad, was teaching there that year. I remember Dr. Kuehl's enthusiasm as he took us around town to visit the Hyde Park speaker's corner, Camden town, the Tate museum, and out for a spicy Indian dinner. For an uninitiated midwesterner like myself, raised on pork chops and mashed potatoes, these experiences were eye-opening and made a lasting impression on me. I am grateful to Dr. Kuehl for his generosity and humility, traits I also admire in his daughters and the grandkids I know, Albert and Otto.

Chuck was a great story teller with fantastic sense of humor. He was quick to laugh and his smile was contagious. I had the pleasure of meeting him through his youngest, Jennifer. The times when I was there for a visit were always so pleasant, discussing baseball, technology, geopolitics and movies. A proud Iowan, we would have fun ribbing each other after Iowa Mizzou basketball games. He was a natural teacher and a great dad to his girls. Sincere condolences to the sisters Kuehl.

We had the privilege of caring for Chuck’s dental needs for 30 years. He was the most pleasant story teller, always teaching us about something new to him or suggesting a book/movie/restaurant/trip. His family was his pride and joy, wanted to tell us especially about the antics of the grands. It’s hard to read “age 86” as we knew he kept having birthdays but his young attitude and twinkle in his grin kept him forever youthful.
Condolences to your family at this time, we all lost a true gentleman and mentor.

I so enjoyed knowing Chuck and just hanging out with him. In addition to his abundant intelligence and broad interest, he has a terrific sense of humor and playfulness. I looked forward to seeing him when we visited St Louis.

May his memory be a blessing and may you find comfort in each other and knowing that he was loved and admired by many.

To know Chuck Kuehl was a pleasure and a privilege. My only regret was that it took me so long to learn about him and to work with him. I can't imagine the sense of loss that his death must bring to those who knew him longer and better. My deepest sympathies go to his daughters and their families. He thought about them every day.

I earned my MBA at UMSL where Professor Kuehl taught. I don’t remember many other instructors there, but I remember him. He demanded much from his students, making us think and grow. He was inspiring. I had great respect for him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Emily, Lauren, and Jennifer,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during these very difficult times and forward. God's richest blessings.

Your dad and I started at Umsl in the same year 1971. He was part of the University of Iowa connection that helped land-me two faculty positions first at Central Missouri State University and later at UMSL, where we worked together.for 45 plus years and t collaborated together on many successful projects and in several programs

He is and will be deeply missed

With my deepest sympathies,

Lindell (Linn) Chew
