Dear Sandy: Jane called me yesterday and told me what happened. I am so sorry for your loss. It has been so long since we have seen each other yet the memories of the summer vacations spent with you and your family are fresh in my mind. I never met Codey but I can imagine he was quite a young man and Jane told me she was very impressed by him. It is a tragedy. He had his whole life before him. My thoughts are with you.

How does one find the words to convey the depth of sadness and pain at a time like this? I offer you my best. My son wrote this poem and I would like to share it with you in Codey's memory.

I only see Codey once a year at the Moore Bowling Reunion, but always was a friendly young man. I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your son and grandson. Losing a child is something no parent should have to go through. It’s hard to understand why a child goes before a parent and even harder to except that loss. I understand what all of you are going through since I lost a child.
